about
Christie Melville’s work explores organic forms and biomimicry, gravitating towards flora and fauna. She is a multicultural artist raised in Hong Kong and Taiwan and works across music, photography, printmaking, and jewelry. These mediums are used narratively through manipulating processes and integrating mandarin characters.
She is pursuing a BFA in Interdisciplinary Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Currently in Kjipuktuk (Halifax) she is developing her exhibition and curatorial experience.
Recently, Melville incorporates her background by merging cultural references and translating ephemeral emotions in her work. Her interest in biophilia is rooted in the commodification of plants that manifests itself in a strange relationship between the urban and natural.
